Day 1     Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Fort William, "Road to the Isles" to Mallaig. Ferry across the Sound of Sleat to Armadale, Skye, then via Isle Ornsay to Kyle (3 nights).

 

Day 2     A very leisurely day on Skye among the Cuillin mountains - to Loch Slapin, Blaven, and Elgol, with unrivalled views to the mountains and islands. Afternoon drive to Glen Arroch and Kylerhea, the old drove road.

 

Day 3     Through the dramatic splendour of Wester Ross - Loch Carron, Bealach Na Bo (Pass of the Cattle) to Applecross (one of the earliest seats of Christianity in Scotland). Over the North Applecross Road (fabulous views of the islands) to Shieldaig, Loch Torridon. Return via Glen Shieldaig and Kishorn.

 

Day 4     To Plockton, Loch Duich, Eilean Donan Castle, the Pass of Mam Ratagan to Glenelg - the best preserved Iron Age brochs on the mainland, plus Hanoverian barracks at Bernera. Tremendous views of the peaks of the Five Sisters of Kintail. Glen Cluanie and Glen Morriston to Loch Ness and The Great Glen. Two nights at the excellent Glengarry Castle Hotel.

 

Day 5     A visit to desolate and awe-inspiring Knoydart - Tomdoun, Loch Quoich and Kinloch Hourn.

 

Day 6     Spean Bridge, Loch Laggan, Monadhliath Mountains, Dalwhinnie, Passes of Drumochter & Killiecrankie, The Queen's View at Tummel; Schiehallion, Aberfeldy, Loch Tay, The Trossachs.
