Day 1     Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Fort William to ***Glengarry Castle Hotel beside Loch Oich, the Great Glen (five nights).

 

Day 2     The 'parallel roads' (ice-age markings) of Glen Roy, Glen Loy, Loch Arkaig. With suitable weather a trip may be taken in the gondola cable cars beside Ben Nevis (the highest mountain in Britain).

 

Day 3     Glengarry, Tomdoun to desolate, mountainous Knoydart - Loch Quoich, Kinloch Hourn. More opportunity for walking in this peaceful wilderness.

 

Day 4     Corran Ferry across Loch Linnhe to Ardgour. Loch Sunart, Acharacle, rugged Moidart, Castle Tioram, Loch Shiel, Sound of Arisaig (great views of the Small Isles of Muck, Eigg and Rhum), Lochailort, 'Road to the Isles', Glenfinnan (start of the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion, the failure of which changed much of Scotland and the World......) and the Caledonian Canal.

 

Day 5     Fort Augustus, Loch Ness, Drumnadrochit, Beauly, Strath Glass, Glen Affric (often considered to be Scotland's finest glen - especially in Autumn colours).

 

Day 6     Loch Laggan, Drumochter Pass, Blair Atholl, Pass of Killiecrankie, Loch Tummel ('Queens View'), Kinloch Rannoch, Schiehallion Mountain, Aberfeldy (General Wade's finest bridge). Loch Tay to Killin, Callander, the Trossachs.
